Virgin Australia Airlines - Booking Information

Formerly known as Virgin Blue Airlines, Virgin Australia Airlines is a domestic and international carrier operating under Virgin Australia Holdings. It flies passengers to 50 destinations on its fleet of 91 Boeing and Airbus aircraft from 5 hubs located at Brisbane Airport, Melbourne Airport, Sydney Airport, Auckland Airport, and Christchurch Airport.

The website also allows for free seat selection facility for both domestic and international flights (excluding V Promo fares), as well as Flight Status Check, Manage Booking and Web Check-In.

Virgin Australia Airlines accepts all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club for all domestic ticket purchases. It has just recently launched its PayPal facility and its POLi Direct Debit payment linked to passengers’ bank account or credit card. The airline accepts only American Express cards for New Zealand bookings, and PayPal for Tasmanian flights from Australia.

Guests may check-in online for both domestic and international flights, and enter their Special Service Requests on the same online check-in facility. Passengers are advised to check in at least 45 minutes before to their flight departure, or 60 minutes prior if they need special assistance. For passengers traveling to Samoa check-in time is 120 minutes before the flight, and 90 minutes is allowed for check-in for all other international destinations.

Check-in baggage allowance depends on the type of fare, domestic or international destination, and Velocity Frequent Flyer membership level. The airline’s Saver fares do not include a complimentary baggage allowance, but passengers may purchase as much as 23kg of baggage allowance for a nominal fee. Flexi fare passengers are allowed a maximum of 23kg of checked-in baggage, while Premium fare guests may check-in a maximum of 69kg.
