Qantas Bags Best Airline Wine List in The World Award

11th Jul 2014

Australia's flag carrier has proven once again that its wine collection is still the best in the world when it won the 'Best Airline Wine List in the World' in this year's edition of The World of Fine Wine.

The award is a manifestation of the Qantas' excellent menu selections of in-flight wine offerings in its business and first class cabins.

The airline keeps a broad range of wines from across the world, most of which are from distinguished Australian wineries such as Coldstream Hills and Yabby Lake, Cape Mentelle, as well as from up-and-coming names like SC Pannell and Mac Forbes.

Australian Business Traveller got the privilege to talk to Qantas Sommelier, David Holder, and queried him about the carrier's excellent wine pairings with its sumptuous menus that constantly change with the season and time of year.

Neil Beckett, the editor of The World of Fine Wine, has only praises for Qantas, saying that it has improved so much year after year when it comes to wine selections for its business travelers. Mr. Beckett is also the chairman of the judges at this year's World's Best Wine Lists awards.

As a sampler, the vintage champagne, currently the 2000 Pol Roger Cuv?e Winston Churchill and Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, will surely titillate business class passengers' discriminating taste while enjoying their favorite dish on board.
