Virgin Australia Launches "The Business" and "Economy Space +" on B777-300ER

1st Jun 2016

Customers of Virgin Australia who book a flight from the United States to the Middle East with this carrier's Boeing 777-300ER plane will have something to be happy about during their journey. Namely, the Australian carrier has upgraded its seats on these planes and is now offering new Premium Economy, Economy Space + and Business Class seats.

Perhaps the most intriguing is the new product called Economy Space +, which offers an even more spacious section of the economy cabin. The lucky passengers in the first five rows, as well as the exit rows in the Economy Class will now get more legroom, their dedicated crew members, a preferred overhead locker, first meal choice and even noise-canceling headphones.

Speaking about the Economy Space + Mark Hassell, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Australia said:

"We are excited to launch our new Economy Space + product, providing more choice and comfort for passengers travelling in the main cabin. Coupled with Virgin Australia's award-winning service, we believe Economy Space + will be very popular with a range of travelers."

He also added:

"Economy Space + enables you to speed through the airport and enjoy service from dedicated crew members throughout the flight, providing great value for guests travelling to Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi."

Apart from the new Economy Space + option, Virgin Australia has also upgraded the Premium Economy Class, which now has 24 seats, all of which are now 19.5 inch wide and 41 inch in pitch. Each seat also has an IFE screen, USB ports and in-seat power.

Speaking about the Premium Economy product, Virgin Australia CCO Hassell said:

"Premium is an important product for us and we are committed to ensuring those higher yielding customers receive value for money."

Finally, the Australian carrier has also upgraded its B777-300ERs with the new International Business Class cabin, bar and lounge. The front-end cabin now has 37 private suites in a 1-2-1 formation, all with lie-flat seats.

In addition, customers on the Business Class will also be able to take advantage of a side console area, where they can keep their personal belongings. Of course, Virgin Australia has also considered the comfort of their passengers, meaning that Business Class seats now include memory foam mattress, cotton pillows and duvets and a customized triple-layer seat cushion.
