Virgin Australia Finally Opens Perth Terminal

27th Oct 2015

Originally, Virgin Australia was supposed to open the Perth Airport terminal in June last year, but a series of delays prevented that from happening. However, the new T1 Domestic Pier terminal will be officially opened on 22nd November this year, to the delight of airline's passengers who are looking for a better international, interstate and regional transfer.

The new Virgin Australia Perth Airport terminal will feature 28 domestic kiosks for check-in, bag-drop technology and 12 aerobridge departure gates, three of which will be capable of accepting the wide-body Airbus A330, the carrier likes to use.

The terminal will be located at the western end of the Perth Airport international terminal and in the close vicinity of its intrastate facility, which will make transfers for travelers much easier.

Speaking about the new terminal, Virgin Australia chief executive John Borghetti said:

"This terminal is the centrepiece of our commitment to Western Australia and will deliver an outstanding travel experience for all of our customers. It will provide access to twice the number of departure gates, with the ability to board up to twelve aircraft at one time, offering a world-class gateway for regional, domestic and international travel."

Borghetti also added:

"Our new check-in service will enable us to tailor the experience to the needs of different customers, combining cutting-edge technology with the personalised customer service for which Virgin Australia is renowned.''

Brad Geatches, Perth Airport chief executive commented:

The size and scale of this building is impressive. It is actually 1.5 times the length of Subiaco's Domain Stadium and has a perimeter measuring 1.4 kilometres. The opening of the T1 Domestic Terminal represents a major milestone in achieving our vision of having all commercial air services operating from one convenient location."

Virgin's first flight to arrive at the new terminal will be VA713 from Adelaide on 22nd November at 7:35 a.m., while the first to take off will be VA714 going to Adelaide at 8:10 a.m.
